1. THE CHALLENGE

Can you make large PTFE oil seals in one piece?

One of our existing customers was working on a new product type. Normally a large PTFE Oil seal is made out of two pieces. During installation both parts are connected via a garter spring. During this operation you need at least two people to install the seal. Also leakage can occur and parts can damage each other during installation. For these reasons our client requested us to find a solution.

2. THE PROCESS

How did we create a one piece design PTFE oil seal?

Together with the customers engineering team we gathered all available and needed information in order to understand the goal. In order to change the design it was needed to create new production tools. With the new tools and latest production machines for large dimensions (up to 2500 mm) we started a test. After evaluation we could see a good and reliable result. With the new tools we could also easily include part numbers and production dates into the finished product. We produced samples and presented the results to our client. After a comparison between other makers NewDealSeals was selected as preferred supplier.
