Silicone O-rings are very resistant to high/low temperatures, oxygen, ozone, and UV light. In addition to being generally inert (non-reactive), silicones are odourless, tasteless, non- toxic, and fungus resistant. They also have great flexibility retention and low compression set.

It must be taken into account that in general silicone has poor mechanical performance. Silicone Seals are sensitive to shear forces, and therefore not suitable for dynamic or rotary closing applications.
